Birmingham resident, Charlotte Margri, 31, joined the Adult Skills Fund in March 2025 for additional support after being unemployed for more than a year.
Struggling with anxiety and depression, Charlotte found it particularly difficult to speak in groups or with people unfamiliar to her, which made re-entering the workforce feel incredibly daunting.
Supported by her Tutor, Gregory Tonks, Charlotte initially attended smaller group sessions to help her feel more relaxed, while building her confidence to start actively participating in class.
With previous warehouse experience, Charlotte completed a Warehouse and Logistics course, which included coaching tailored to her goal of becoming a forklift truck driver. As her confidence improved, Charlotte began to engage more with other students.
After completing her warehouse training, Charlotte is now receiving ongoing wraparound support from Maximus, including help with job opportunities, confidence building, wellbeing and application guidance. She will also be automatically enrolled in a funded forklift truck training course as soon as one becomes available through one of our Community Partnership Network members.
Charlotte is optimistic about her future and determined to return to work in the warehouse sector: “I’ve received fantastic help in understanding the different roles there are within the industry that I can progress towards. The course has helped me build my skills and improve my knowledge further. I truly believe that this will help me into getting back to work in the sector I’m interested in.”
